Gary, have you ever heard the saying "one bad apple spoils the whole barrel"? Well, political issues tend to get emotional. Which is OK so long as people stay POLITE. But one bad apple started name-calling on one of these threads, and there went the whole shootin' match: it degenerated into mudslinging and flaming.
So the safest thing to do seems to be to steer clear of issues that could raise hackles.
Of course, nobody's telling you you HAVE to steer clear of them, it just seems to be the safe route.
As I've said before, I don't mind a good argument so long as it's kept courteous.
